New paper on palm trait evolution: We show that the evolution of fruit colour and fruit size in Neotropical palms is associated, as is the evolution of fruit size and the presence of spines, suggesting an interplay between antagonistic interactions (herbivory) and mutualistic interactions (seed dispersal) in shaping current trait patterns of tropical plants. This came out of the MSc thesis from Lucas Ferreira do Nascimento supervised by Mathias Pires and Paulo Guimarães.
